On the morning of August 26, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province had a meeting with the delegation of the Government of Kerala (India) led by Mr. K.S. Srinivas, Chief Secretary in charge of Fisheries and Tourism Kerala (equivalent to Deputy Minister level).

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, thanked Mr. K.S. Srinivas paid a courtesy visit to the provincial leaders. In addition, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu briefly introduced the socio-economic situation, potential and advantages of Tien Giang province. Currently, the province is interested in promoting infrastructure investment to serve socio-economic development.
Particularly, in the field of agriculture, Tien Giang province promotes investment in development towards productivity, efficiency, quality, application of science - technology and adaptation to climate change as at present. On this visit, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu hoped that the delegation of the Kerala State Government would continue to pay attention to effective and long-term investment in Tien Giang province.
In the first 5 months of 2022, Tien Giang province exported over 243 million USD to India, mainly products of gravure, garments, bags, shoes, etc. The province imported about $1.4 million from India, mainly raw fabrics, materials and accessories for bags, pharmaceutical materials, etc. Currently, there is one Indian FDI project in Tien Giang province with a total adjusted capital of $9.5 million. India has funded $100,000 for 02 projects to install standard domestic water pipes for people in Dong Thanh commune (Go Cong Tay district) and build rainwater reservoirs in arid areas (Tan Phu Dong district).
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Venu Rajamony, former Ambassador, Head of the Executive Board for International Cooperation of Kerala State (equivalent to Director level) thanked the leaders of Tien Giang province for having a respectful welcome. He said that through this trip, it would open up opportunities to better connect the relationship between Kerala state and Tien Giang province in the coming time. Mr. Venu Rajamony wished to increase the understanding and exchange of aquatic breeds, farming technology, processing technology and adding value to aquatic products.
After greeting the leaders of Tien Giang province, the delegation of the Kerala State Government visited Dai Thanh Co., Ltd., the Southern Fruit Institute and the Fisheries Research Institute II.
