The Original Architecture of Vinh Trang Pagoda

Located at a beautiful campus full of peaceful atmosphere in My Phong commune, My Tho City, Vinh Trang Pagoda is considered as the biggest and most beautiful Vietnamese Pagoda in the South. Built in XIX Century and renovated in large scale in 1849, the architecture of the pagoda is the combination of Asian and European style: the central chamber represents a stupa with two pyramid - shaped lean-tos, therefore, the pagoda looks like five towers with the shape of Angkor Temple of Cambodia. The unique feature of the pagoda is that the pagoda is laid with broken ceramic pieces to create a harmonic painting to illustrate the legend of the Buddhism at two three-door temple gates.

In the pagoda, there is relief of eight fairies riding animals, the set of Tam Ton statues made of copper of real man size. More specially, there is the full set of Thap Bat La Han (eighteen statues) made of wood which cannot be found in any other place in Mekong Delta Region by the craftsmen in 1907. Vinh Trang Pagoda was recognized as a national historical relic in 1984.
