On April 26th 2017, at the Provincial Conference Center, the Department of Information and Communications in cooperation with the relevant organizations held the Conference on implementing e-Government Architecture in Tien Giang province version 1.0 and solutions to build a smart city. Attendants were leaders of provincial departments; People's Committees of districts, towns and city; Tien Giang University, Health College, Vocational College and enterprises.

Provincial People's Committee has approved the e-Government Architecture of Tien Giang province version 1.0, which is divided into 3 phases with a total estimated expenditure of over VND151 billion. Phase 1 (2017 - 2018) has 8 main tasks such as building and improving specialist-skill process to meet the requirement of e-government; upgrading comprehensively Data Integration Center; deploying the sharing platform; building databases so as to perform administrative procedures, etc.
Phase 2 (2018 - 2019) has five main tasks, namely building provincial information security systems, upgrading the provincial public email system with e-government standard, updating the online conference system, setting up some applications to meet the e-government's requirement, etc.
Phase 3 (2019 - 2020) has three main tasks which are upgrading the information technology infrastructure of state agencies, equipping infrastructure for support division of agencies and enterprises; training for cadres, civil servants and officials.
At the conference, a representative of Tien Giang Telecommunications (VNPT) presented Project of building My Tho city into a smart city; experts of Cisco Systems Vietnam Ltd Company, IBM Vietnam Company, etc. introduced many modern technology solutions in order to create a better and safer living environment for people, increase the efficiency of management activities, reduce costs, develop sustainably and decrease environmental impact.

Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Dan Thu, Dean of Information Technology of the Ho Chi Minh University of Science commented that the province should pay attention to continuous training for cadres, civil servants and officials, notably the information technology staffs so as to promote the effectiveness of information technology projects and smart city project.
