Ensure safety for foreigners participating in traffic as drivers in the province
On November 15, 2018, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Letter No. 5174/UBND-KT on ensuring safety for foreigners who participate in traffic as drivers in the province.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to direct the force to strengthen the patrol and control on the roads, the routes leading to the tourist areas, the areas where there are many foreign tourists to detect and strictly handle acts of violating traffic order and safety related to riding motorcycles of foreigners. It is included common violations such as riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet, after drinking, without proper driving license, avoiding or crossing other vehicles without following the regulations...
Concurrently, People's Committees and Traffic Safety Committees of districts, towns and My Tho city have intensified their inspection and requested motorbike rental establishments in their localities to ensure technical safety of vehicles, provide sufficient vehicle documents as prescribed. When the foreigners rent a motorbike, the lessor must be handed documents related to that motorbike over to the lessee; do not provide motorbike for those who do not have enough conditions to ride motorbike. Resolutely fining or revoking business licenses for establishments which provide the motorbike to those who do not fully meet the conditions for riding, etc.
