Writer Son Nam Memorial Area is located in Dao Thanh commune, My Tho City. The writer Son Nam has the real name of Pham Minh Tai, born on December 11th, 1926 in An Bien, Rach Gia (Kien Giang province today). He was not only the writer but also the researcher with many loved works such as Huong Rung Ca Mau (the perfume of Ca Mau Forest), Mua Len Trau (Buffalo Season), Nguoi Sai Gon (The Saigon), Gia Dinh Xua (Gia Dinh in the past), etc. Writer Son Nam is known as the live documentation about the culture, history, society, customs, festivals, local languages, traditional trades, etc. of the Southern people and land from the reclamation time. The house was built with 3 compartments following the Southern architectural style in an area of more than 2,000 m2.
In the memorial house, there are hundreds of books, autographs by the late writer as well as many objects closely linked to his life such as frayed shirt, old typewriter, etc. In the front, there is the statue of Writer Son Nam carved by the Sculptor Nguyen Sanh with the eyes looking forward Bao Dinh River. The access road the house from the yard to the steps of the house is arranged strangely to simulate Ca Mau Peninsula consisting of 82 beehive stones representing for the age of the writer.
