In the first 6 months of 2021, Tan Phuoc district achieved an industrial output value of over VND1,129 billion, with an increase of more than VND734 billion compared to the same period last year. As a district located in Dong Thap Muoi (Tien Giang province), Tan Phuoc district focuses on mobilizing resources for economic development, stabilizing production and people's life. In addition to the strength in agricultural production, forming specialized farming production areas, the district focuses on expanding industrial and handicraft industry, creating jobs for workers.
According to statistics, the whole district currently has 425 industrial - handicraft production establishments, including 29 small and medium enterprises; 396 handicraft establishments. Previously, knitting was a traditional profession of many localities such as Tan Hoa Thanh, Phu My, etc., famous for its unique products such as hats, baskets, cushions, etc., which are popular in domestic and foreign markets. Recently, along with restoring and promoting traditional occupations, the district has also developed many new industries such as mechanical engineering, building and repairing ships, repairing agricultural and fishery machinery, etc., contributing to attracting laborers, creating positive changes in the local economic sectors.
Currently, in order to develop in a sustainable way, the functional sector is actively supporting the Business Association of the district to transform its operating model under the guidance of the Provincial Business Association. In addition, the district synchronously implements many policies to create favorable conditions for the industrial and handicraft industry to go up steadily, contributing to socio-economic achievements in Tan Phuoc district.
