According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Phu Dong district, in the first six months of 2021, local farmers have sown hundreds of hectares of vegetables of all kinds. The main products are starchy plants with tubers, watermelon, pepper, tomato, ginger, etc. Especially, farmers harvested 18 hectares of watermelon, with an output of 165 tons.
In spite of being a saline island district, Tan Phu Dong district is also a locality with strengths in developing areas specializing in high-quality agricultural products with many brands affirming its position in the market such as watermelon, pepper, ginger, etc. Tan Phu Dong watermelons are famous for their delicious taste, very popular with consumers, and have helped many farmers to build a solid business. Currently, vegetables and food crops are grown in many communes such as Phu Thanh, Phu Dong, Tan Thanh, etc.
